Welcome Miss Lila Karilyn!

So it's been awhile since we have updated!! :( Miss Lila Karilyn (pronounced Kari-lynn) was born February 28th 2009 at 11:10am. She weighed in at 6lbs 13oz and was 20 and a half inches long. I had a C-Section and recovered in the hospital for 3 days. We went home Tuesday morning and stayed at my parent's house for a week and a half. It was so awesome because it helped me recover and get adjusted to life as new parents. Devin had to work during the day and it was hard for me to get up and lift the baby, so we always had someone with us. Grandma (my mom), Granny (my grandma who is officially a Great Grandma now!), or Auntie Nicole! The first month was pretty rough! Lila would need to eat every 2 hours and I was breastfeeding so life was kinda tough for awhile, but we have her on a better schedule now.

We're Expecting!!

Well, as most of you all probably know by now we are expecting a little girl in early March. We are super excited to meet her and anxiously awaiting her arrival! Just FYI, it wasn't a shot gun wedding that we had, we found out we were engaged in May and our wedding date was already set. We found out we were having a little one in July. :) We know she will be a big blessing and will bring a lot of joy to not only us, but to our family as well. We only have 3 months to go, so we have a lot of preparing we still have to do, especially since we just moved into a new house! I will post some pictures of her nursery very soon.

We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving. Here are a few pictures of our Thanksgiving day at my parents house! We totally stuffed ourselves, and I had the perfect excuse. ;)

Christmas is coming soon! I can't wait! We will be getting our tree hopefully this weekend, so I will post pictures of that too. Happy early Merry Christmas!!

Honeymoon: Camping, Fish and Bears Oh My!

So, we decided after our wedding that we wanted to take a little, budget-friendly Honeymoon somewhere. Devin thought it would be awesome to go camping since some of our gifts were VERY nice camping supplies which included a large tent and sleeping bags (thanks to Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Renee!). Devin researched on Monday night nice camping locations and decided on the Mammoth area. So, Tuesday morning at 8:00 we were out the door. I only packed 1 large bag (with my wonderful husband's assistance) and another with toiletries. I knew that there could be the possiblity of a bear or two, so I made sure not to take a bunch of perfume or scented products. So we were off. Devin had packed everything the night before: the supplies, the food, our car was packed full. It's a wonder we even fit in it! We got to Mammoth around 4:00 that evening. It was a nice drive. Not much traffic, a lot of desert and heat. After Devin picked up some fishing supplies (he was very determined to catch some fish to eat) , we decided to stay at June Lake after speaking to the locals. We picked out a nice camping location, with a beautiful lake view where fishing was available, boat rentals and showers and a bathroom (to my delight!) . I was also thrilled that there were other campers there with tents. Not so thrilled about the 'bear bins' that were located at every camp site. They were a steel proof bin in which you put your food and beverages in any time you left your site or went to sleep at night. It made me a little nervous that when we got there and spoke to the people that were regulars, that they said the black bear was large and would come every night looking for food: "He wont bother you though, unless he smells food in your tent!" Devin and I made SURE there was absolutely no food or drink left unattended. The first night, we ate hot dogs and looked around at our beautiful surroundings. It was so peaceful and calm. :) I knew it was going to be an adventure. The next morning, Devin had cooked scrambled eggs over the camp fire, and we had orange juice and bread. It was good! He said he had heard the bear that night and the people next to our tent (one camp site over) were flashing there flashlights into our tent because the bear was right by us! Devin froze and was trying to wake me up, but I was sure glad he didnt because I would have FREAKED out!
We never heard from Mr. Bear again and I was so glad. I wasnt so scared the rest of the week. I was glad we didnt bring Chloe, she could have been food for him! Wednesday we rented a kayak. He caught a few fish, but let them go because he thought they were too small to eat. We were out on the lake for a few hours. Then headed back for lunch. I even got to take a shower later in the day. It was $2 for 3 minutes, so I roughed it and took a 6 minute shower! Thursday morning, Devin went early and fished by the shore and caught 4 rainbow trout. We got a free boat rental in the afternoon because the nice cashier at the General Store had heard we were there for our honeymoon. We were thrilled! It was so relaxing and Devin caught 3 more fish! Also later in the day, we would found a nice spot and would fish just sitting in our chairs. I would feed the ducks and read. Friday was our last full day there, and Devin caught a few more fish. We drove about a mile away and fished at another camp site by the rocks, he ended up catching 3 fish there. We ate the fish for dinner two nights in a row (Thursday and Friday night) and made smores Friday night. Very yummy! Saturday, Devin caught 2 more fish and we brought them home with us. All in all, it was a very nice honeymoon . We will definitely be back and also are going to try camping at different locations.

Just Married!

So, our first post! Well, we were hitched August 30th 2008 on a sunny, warm California Saturday. :)

We had a wonderful day, the ceremony was earlier than most -- 12:00 noon and the reception followed right outside the church. It was absolutely beautiful inside the church and out! Thanks to all of our awesome family and friends that helped and also attended the ceremony. We love you guys!
